When you visit the website

The website does not use cookies, has no visitor statistics or tracking, and has no forms.

The web server keeps a log of requests. The log contains IP address, time, which page was fetched, which page you came from and which browser was used. The log is used for operation, troubleshooting and security. It is kept for at least 30 days and no longer than one year. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure and stable website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

On the contact page you can choose to show a map from Google. The map is not fetched until you press "Show the map". Google then receives your IP address and may store cookies, and Google's privacy policy applies. If you do not show the map, nothing is sent to Google.

When you get in touch

When you call, write or visit, we process the information you give us – such as your name, contact details and what the enquiry concerns – in order to answer you and assess whether we can take the case. The legal basis is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b)), or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).

When you are a client

In an assignment we process the information necessary to look after your interests. This may be identity and contact details, information about the case and about others involved in it, and financial information. In many cases it also includes special categories of personal data, such as health information, and information about criminal offences.

The legal basis for the processing is:

Who receives the information

Lawyers are bound by a statutory duty of confidentiality. Information about you and your case is passed on only when it is necessary for the assignment – for example to courts, opposing parties and public authorities – when you have consented, or when the law requires it.

Suppliers that process personal data on our behalf, including for operating the website, do so under a data processing agreement and may not use the data for their own purposes.

How long the information is kept

Information from enquiries that do not lead to an assignment is deleted when the enquiry has been dealt with. Information in a case is kept for as long as necessary for the assignment and to meet statutory obligations, normally for ten years after the case is closed. Accounting records are kept for five years under the Bookkeeping Act.

Your rights

You can ask for access to the information we hold about you, and for it to be corrected or deleted. You can also ask for the processing to be restricted, object to the processing, and ask to receive information you have given us yourself (data portability). These rights may be limited by the lawyer's duty of confidentiality and other statutory obligations.

Get in touch by letter or phone to exercise your rights. You will receive an answer without undue delay and within one month at the latest.

Complaints

If you believe we process personal data in breach of the rules, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet. We would appreciate it if you contact us first.
